Terms & Disclaimers
These terms apply when you place an order with, subscribe to, or otherwise use The Grated Carrot ("we", "us"). By using the site or placing an order you agree to them. If something here is unclear, please ask us before ordering.
About us
The Grated Carrot is a small home-based bakery operated by Sophie Wood and registered with the local council as a home food business. We bake to order in small batches.
Orders, pricing & availability
- All orders are subject to confirmation and oven availability. We will contact you to confirm timing once your request is received.
- Prices are in Australian dollars and may change without notice; the price quoted at the time we confirm your order is the price that applies.
- Lead times are indicative. Custom and larger orders typically need at least 48–72 hours' notice.
Payment
Payment is taken at the time of order confirmation by direct bank transfer or via a supported payment processor. Orders are only locked into the schedule once payment is received.
Cancellations & refunds
- Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the agreed pickup/delivery time are refunded in full.
- Cancellations inside 48 hours may incur a charge to cover ingredients already prepared.
- If something is wrong with your order, contact us within 24 hours of pickup/delivery and we will make it right — a replacement, credit or refund as appropriate. This sits alongside (and does not limit) your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Allergens & food safety
Our kitchen handles wheat, gluten, eggs, dairy, tree nuts, peanuts, soy, sesame and seeds. Even items labelled "gluten free" or "nut free" are made in a shared home kitchen and we cannot guarantee zero cross-contamination. If you have a severe allergy or anaphylaxis, please tell us before ordering so we can advise honestly whether we are a safe choice for you.
Always check ingredient and allergen information at the point of order, and consume cakes within the use-by guidance we provide. Cakes containing dairy or fresh cream should be refrigerated.
Pickup & delivery
- Risk in the goods passes to you on pickup or on delivery to the address you provide.
- Please refrigerate cakes promptly and handle them with care — we are not responsible for damage that occurs after the order leaves our hands.
- If no one is available at delivery, we may leave the order in a safe location agreed with you, or return it (a redelivery fee may apply).
Images, content & intellectual property
All photographs, copy, recipes and branding on this site are owned by The Grated Carrot and may not be reproduced for commercial use without our written permission. Cakes shown are representative; small variations in decoration, colour and finish are part of the handmade nature of our bakes.
Communications
By placing an order or subscribing, you consent to us contacting you about your order and, where you have opted in, about bakery news. You can unsubscribe from marketing at any time via the link in any email or at /unsubscribe.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim relating to an order is limited to either replacing the goods or refunding the price paid for the affected order. Nothing in these terms excludes any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Victoria, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force when you place an order is the version that applies to that order.
